The first lesson explore the poem through freeze frame activities and group work while the second lesson develops analysis of language devices within the poem with a modelled example. Originally used with a mixed ability year 8 group, this would also work with a high ability KS3 year 7 group and could supplement a war poetry scheme or as a standalone pair of lessons. Prior knowledge of simile, metaphor and emotive language is expected.
